Dough Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 cups of flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 packages dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup shortening or oil
  • 2 eggs

Filling Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 onions chopped
  • 4 cups shredded cabbage
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon seasoning salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon marjoram

Directions

Dough Directions

  1. Mix 4 cups of flour wiht sugar, salt, and shortening.
  2. Heat milk, water, and yeast until warm (120 to 130 degrees). Mix into flour mixture.
  3. Add eggs. Beat with electric mixer on low speed for 30 seconds, then on high for 3 minutes.
  4. Stir in remainder of flour. Dough should be soft and sticky.
  5. Knead for 3 minutes. Cover with clean towel and let rest for 20 minutes.
  6. Roll out thin (3/16 inches thick) and cut into 6 to 7 inch squares.

Filling Directions

  1. Brown hamburger with onion, worcestershire sauce, oregano, and marjoram.
  2. Steam cabbage until done (very quicky). Drain cabbage and squeeze out water. Melt butter into warm cabbage.
  3. Add salt and pepper to beef. Stir in cabbage.
  4. Fill dough squares with 2 scoops of beef mixture and pinch dough edges together.
  5. Bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees.
