Dough Ingredients
- 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 cups of flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 packages dry yeast
- 3/4 cup milk
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup shortening or oil
- 2 eggs
Filling Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1/2 onions chopped
- 4 cups shredded cabbage
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon seasoning salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon marjoram
Directions
Dough Directions
- Mix 4 cups of flour wiht sugar, salt, and shortening.
- Heat milk, water, and yeast until warm (120 to 130 degrees). Mix into flour mixture.
- Add eggs. Beat with electric mixer on low speed for 30 seconds, then on high for 3 minutes.
- Stir in remainder of flour. Dough should be soft and sticky.
- Knead for 3 minutes. Cover with clean towel and let rest for 20 minutes.
- Roll out thin (3/16 inches thick) and cut into 6 to 7 inch squares.
Filling Directions
- Brown hamburger with onion, worcestershire sauce, oregano, and marjoram.
- Steam cabbage until done (very quicky). Drain cabbage and squeeze out water. Melt butter into warm cabbage.
- Add salt and pepper to beef. Stir in cabbage.
- Fill dough squares with 2 scoops of beef mixture and pinch dough edges together.
- Bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees.
