Ingredients

Casserole Ingredients

  • 4 cups hot, cooked elbow macaroni (roughly 1/2 pound uncooked)
  • 2 cups (8 oz) shredded sharp cheddar
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup skim milk
  • 2 tablespoons grated onion
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon butter or margarine, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 large egg, beaten

Topping Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Combine the casserole ingredients together. Stir well. Spoon into a shallow 2 quart casserole dish coated with cooking spray.
  3. Combine topping together, and sprinkle over the casserole.
  4. Cover and bake for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 5 minutes or until breadcrumbs are slightly browned.
